You may be studying this subject at school and looking to develop your skills and experience or you may not have had the opportunity to explore this subject in school yet. If you are interested in developing your own creativity and building a portfolio for future studies then come along . Or, if you simply wish to try something new and have no previous experience then you are very welcome to join as well. The places are limited to ensure students get one to one tutoring and differentiated tasks depending on ability.

What will you be doing...

Day 1:

You will be introduced to the textiles studio making sure you have confidence to use equipment safely and creatively. You will be taught how to develop ideas, create a moodboard, design and illustrate your own fashion collection. Learn fashion illustration techniques to creatively communicate your design ideas. Throughout the day you will experiment with a range of fabric printing techniques using a heat press and also learn resist printing and appliqué. Using these skills you will develop a range of fabric samples with your very own print designs and present these into a portfolio. There will be a range of resources available to inspire your ideas, with a chance to look to a variety of designers.

Day 2:

You'll have the chance to bring your fashion ideas to life by creating a garment. You'll learn important pattern cutting skills, including how to cut a flat block pattern and factor in seam allowances. Plus, you'll learn how to use a sewing machine to put your garment together. To make your garment extra special, you'll also get to design and print your own fabrics using the skills you learnt on Day 1. And finally, you'll have the chance to add beautiful finishing touches that will showcase your newfound skills and give your garment that extra wow factor.

What will you come away with:
